Columbia Drug Crimes Lawyers

The Firm to Use When Experience Matters

Missouri has very tough laws when it comes to drug crimes. If you are found in possession of a controlled substance other than marijuana, you will very likely be facing a felony charge. Conviction of a felony will result in having a permanent criminal record, large fines, and potential jail time. Your future can be severely impacted as a convicted felon in terms of job, educational, and housing opportunities, the right to vote or own a firearm, and more. You will want to fight hard to avoid these penalties.

Sales, distribution, and manufacturing of controlled substances are considered even more serious. These charges will depend on the type of drugs involved, the quantity, and other circumstances. A conviction of these crimes is punishable by up to 30 years in prison and heavy fines.

Missouri Drug Crimes

Drug crimes can range from simple possession of marijuana and its paraphernalia to possession, distribution, sale, manufacturing, and trafficking of such controlled substances as:

  • Heroin
  • Cocaine
  • Methamphetamine
  • Prescription drugs (without a valid prescription)
  • PCP
  • LSD
  • Synthetic marijuana or bath salts
  • Other recreational or designer street drugs
  • Chemical precursors used for the production of methamphetamine or other illegal drugs

Possession of less than 35 grams of marijuana is charged as a misdemeanor. Possession of drug paraphernalia is also charged as a misdemeanor unless it involves the production of methamphetamine, which is charged as a felony.
